One person was displaced and a firefighter was injured in an early morning fire Friday at a two-flat building in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, officials said.
Shortly before 1:15 a.m., police and firefighters responded to a fire at a two-flat building in the 7300 block of South Champlain Avenue, officials said.
A 2-11 alarm was called at the scene and at some point overnight a mayday alert was sent out until all firefighters at the scene were located, according to Chicago Fire Department media information.
At least five ambulances were called to the scene.
Fire officials said one firefighter was taken to an area hospital where the firefighter’s condition was stabilized.
