The following student-athletes have been selected to The Washington Post’s 2024 All-Met team for girls’ spring soccer:

Addy Hess, F, Sr., Freedom (South Riding)

While celebrating the Eagles’ Virginia Class 6 championship, Hess said she wouldn’t have believed the moment was possible during her freshman year. But Freedom powered its way to a 24-0 record and its first state championship largely thanks to the Penn State signee’s attacking contributions. She had 43 goals and 19 assists this season, contributing to a majority of the Eagles’ 120 goals. She routinely stepped up in key moments, scoring twice in Freedom’s 2-1 state semifinal win over Madison and converting her kick in the state championship game’s penalty shootout.

Bree Bridges, D, Jr., Colgan

The Syracuse commit played a key role in a defense that conceded just six goals all year.

Gabriella Garcia, F, Sr., Westfield

Garcia scored 29 goals and added two assists. She’ll begin her collegiate career at Howard in the fall.

Lilli Lubic, MF, Jr., Independence

The Penn State commit led the Tigers in goals (29) and assists (19).

Peyton McGovern, MF, Sr., Brentsville District

McGovern scored twice in the Class 3 final to lift Brentsville District to a second consecutive state championship. The Florida State signee finished the season with 32 goals and 26 assists.

Danicka Miller, D, Jr., Washington-Liberty

The Pittsburgh commit earned first-team all-region honors and anchored the Generals’ stout defense.

Brooke Oswald, F, Sr., Dominion

The William & Mary signee scored 30 goals and added 10 assists, leading the Titans in both categories.

Ayda Pannell, D, Jr., Champe

The Georgia commit played a key role in the Knights’ stingy defense while also launching attacks from their backline throughout Champe’s run to its first state title.

Sami Puterio, D, Sr., Tuscarora

Putiero was named Dulles District player of the year in her final season with the Huskies.

Kyndal Shuler, MF, So., Battlefield

Shuler scored 13 goals and added eight assists.

Avery Strohecker, GK, Sr., Freedom (South Riding)

The Seton Hall signee anchored a defense that conceded just eight goals en route to the Eagles’ first state title.

Daphne Van Der Weide, F, Fr., Madison

The talented freshman led the Warhawks in scoring and helped Madison to a Class 6 semifinal appearance.

Champe reached the state tournament for the first time in a decade. The Knights struggled for a large portion of that 10-year span before Cardoso arrived. She has played a key role in methodically building the program into a state title contender, and the Knights took one step further this spring. Champe went 19-2-2 and won the Class 4 championship, earning a convincing 3-0 win against James Wood to clinch the first title in program history.
