ALVA, Fla. — Five vehicles were stolen from a home in Alva Tuesday night.
Now the owner just wants them back.
“Confusion and then realizing what happened and then shock and then running home and calling the police,” said Tanner Hatch, who owns the vehicles.
He said his family was asleep while thieves targeted the barn at his home off North River Road.
It wasn’t until his wife went to take their newborn out on the golf cart the next morning that they realized what happened.
“I told her it was on charge in the barn and she’s like ‘I don’t see it in the barn.’ Then she said she didn’t see anything else in the barn either,” explained Hatch.
The golf cart wasn’t the only thing missing. Four more vehicles were stolen too.
“They got a Polaris ranger, crew cab side by side, two dirt bikes, a four-wheeler and our golf cart,” said Hatch.
His family’s safety is what he’s most worried about.
“Anxiety that my wife and my newborn and myself were inside sleeping on the property while it happened and wish I could’ve woken up and down something about it,” said Hatch.
The Hatch family just wants the thieves caught, so they can’t steal any more vehicles or a sense of security from anyone else.
“It’d be great to get the stuff back, but it’d be even better to have the people involved arrested,” Hatch explained.
If you know anything about the stolen vehicles, contact the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
Hatch is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who offers information that leads to an arrest.
