CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A boat has now been removed after it was stuck in the Caloosahatchee River since June.
NBC2 first told you about the boat in August and then again in October. Residents were concerned about how the vessel was affecting animals living in the water. On Wednesday, the boat was finally removed.

“I’m really relieved. A lot have people have already mentioned that they’re happy to see the eyesore and the pollutant gone,” said Bill Leonhardt, who lives along Coral Point Drive in Cape Coral.
When the boat was still leaking oil into the water in October, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office put a boom around the boat, before Sea Tow could come.
“This one was a little more difficult than most. There’s a lot of holes in the side of the boat that needed to be covered before the pumps were able to be able to pump out enough water to make it float again,” said Bobby Scott with Sea Tow.
It’s a tricky process, which is why Scott said it took two days to remove.
