A House panel said it would probe how Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania have handled harassment against Jewish students, adding pressure on the leaders of the institutions following their widely criticized congressional testimony earlier in the week.

The House Committee on Education and the Workforce is opening an investigation into the three schools, the committee announced Thursday. It plans to request documents related to the schools’ policies and disciplinary records.
