Better Data Could Be Key to Cheaper Property Insurance

SYDNEY—Work undertaken to boost the resilience of dwellings in flood-prone areas in Australia doesn’t always translate to cheaper insurance, but better data could help.

Australian general insurer Insurance Australia Group said large-scale community mitigation, including the creation of flood levees or creek diversions, or individual actions like raising houses, currently isn’t collected in a comprehensive data set.
