Our weather pattern is in the process of changing from “normal,” which is morning sunshine and the afternoon seabreeze making it rain and storm, to “opposite,” where the seabreeze sets up on the east coast.

We’ll see rain develop in the Gulf of Mexico in the buoyant air and wash ashore during the morning and lunchtime.

Over half of Southwest Florida will get a shower or storm Thursday, but the urban corridor’s rain chance will dwindle during the afternoon and evening as the seabreeze collision triggers rain on the east coast.

You’ll need the umbrella in the morning, more so than in the afternoon. Areas close to Lake Okeechobee, like Moore Haven and Clewiston, may stay in the afternoon and evening pattern, as those towns are closer to the east coast.

Nighttime lows will be in the mid to upper 70s, with sky-high humidity to accompany the warm temperatures. This is all thanks to an onshore wind direction between High Pressure in the southwestern Gulf and a front that’s draped across northern Florida. Don’t get too excited. The front is not forecast to pass through here.
