HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — A 28-year-old Immokalee man died in a crash involving a pickup truck and two semi-trucks along US-27 and Stitt Ranch Road.
The crash happened around 6:38 a.m. Tuesday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the pickup truck was traveling east on US-27 near Stitt Ranch Road. One semi-truck was traveling slowly on the outside lane in front of the pickup, while the other was on the inside lane behind the pickup.
Troopers said the pickup truck failed to slow down, and its front right side hit the rear of the semi-truck. The impact sent the pickup truck into the path of the other semi-truck following behind and the two vehicles collided.
The Immokalee man was a passenger in the pickup truck and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to FHP. Four others who were in the pickup were injured as well. One reportedly suffered serious injuries, while the three others had minor injuries.
FHP said the crash is under investigation.
