“Cut and run” — Boebert switching districts

Instead of having to run opposed to Adam Frisch, Congressional District 3 incumbent Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has chosen to switch districts and safely run for Ken Buck’s open seat. In old West parlance, that’s a cowardly move called cut and run. Freedom or whatever, right?

Rep. Lauren Boebert, having been chased out of Congressional District 3 by Adam Frisch, is desperate to keep her job in “the swamp.” To do this she has decided to run for the reddist Colorado congressional district, the 4th, when Ken Buck’s retirement creates an open seat.

The question is whether the Republican voters of District 4 will be interested in being represented in Washington by a self-promoting, grandstanding, crotch-grabbing person who does not believe that the rules apply to them. Given Donald Trump’s popularity in that district, they just may.

The Texas-to-Denver immigration

Instead of scoring political points, Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas could be scoring humanitarian points. He ought to be working with all governors and big city mayors, be they in red or blue states, to find landing places for migrants who are only trying to make better lives for themselves and their families. Grow a heart, Gov. Abbott, and start treating these people as, well, people. Ship yourself to the Wizard of Oz. Maybe he could find a heart for you.

Hello? The Biden administration is the one who opened the border. Wide open. Did you forget? Then immigrants flowed into Arizona, other southern states and mostly Texas – thousands – hundreds of thousands. Drugs, human trafficking, and illegal immigrants are flowing across the border (I’m sorry but many of the immigrants are illegal by definition of breaking our immigration laws).

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was simply protecting his state, which was overrun, by shipping those out who wanted to go to Chicago, New York, Denver, and elsewhere – all to sanctuary states. Now those governors are whining and crying and appealing to President Joe Biden and villainizing Abbott. He’s racist! He’s cruel! He’s reckless! He’s inhumane! Oh, I guess it’s okay if they stay in Texas and overwhelm that state.

Of course, Biden blamed the Trump administration for the open border. Of course. That is laughable, at the very least.

Now I ask this sanctuary state of ours: How many are too many for our country?

A more welcoming VFW

Re: “Changing VFW’s story,” Dec. 27 news story

When my generation returned from Vietnam, we weren’t initially welcomed at the VFW and American Legion by the WW II vet-dominated membership. We were perceived as pot-smoking, baby-killing crybabies.

I’m glad to see those organizations embracing the younger vets. It seems America has finally learned to hate the wars but love the veterans.
