Fire breaks out in Edgewater high-rise building

A 2-11 fire alarm was called Friday morning at a high-rise building on Foster Avenue in the Edgewater neighborhood, Chicago Fire Department officials said.

The fire broke out shortly before 8:20 a.m. at a building located at 1020 W. Foster Ave., where officials reported heavy fire on the 6th floor.

Fire officials said several people were rescued from the building and two people were taken to area hospitals for their injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
