A 25-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle after she walked into the street Thursday night on the Far South Side, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 11 p.m., another woman, 35, was driving a Ford sedan in the southbound lanes in the 10000 block of South Halsted Street when she struck the woman who had walked into the street, police said.

The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Ford was not injured. The Chicago police Major Accidents Unit is investigating.
