Thousands of people in Vancouver dove into 2024 by taking a dip into the chilly waters of English Bay for the annual Polar Bear Swim.
The event — now in its 104th year — has been happening since 1920 and included live music and food trucks for patrons from noon until 4 p.m.
CityNews spoke to some of the swimmers to get their thoughts on the chilling excursion.
“It’s my first time here doing that and it’s amazing,” one local said.
“It’s incredible.”
“It’s my first New Year in Vancouver and I felt like it was just the Vancouver thing to do,” another added.
Last year, more than 6,000 swimmers registered for the swim, which took place in 6 C water.
