KFC’s parent company Yum! Brands, which also owns Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and The Habit Burger Grill, confirmed the restaurant closure at 200 Duboce Ave. with SFGATE via email. According to a KFC spokesperson, the franchise owner decided to close due to “a normal course of business.”

“While this is always a difficult decision, we appreciate the patronage of our loyal guests,” a KFC spokesperson told SFGATE. “We look forward to continuing serving our customers at the other KFCs located in the area.”

The exact closure date of the popular KFC store is unknown. Still, the restaurant’s sign has already been removed and its storefront is currently boarded up, according to the Standard.

The restaurant closure comes more than two years after the site’s Taco Bell shuttered in September 2021. At the time, a brief memo posted on the storefront simply alerted customers that the Taco Bell section had closed, but a specific reason behind the separation wasn’t revealed.

Despite the closure, it’s not all bad news for those hoping to snack on a Crunchwrap Supreme with a side of Colonel Sanders’ famous fried chicken. San Francisco is still home to four combined Taco Bell and KFC restaurant locations with stores at 4150 Geary Blvd., 1150 Taraval St., 691 Eddy St., and 4285 Mission St.
