‘They hunted us’ says Ecuador TV station attack victim

Journalists who were held hostage after masked gunmen broke into Ecuadorian broadcaster TC’s live studio have spoken about their ordeal.

Alina Manrique said the armed men “hunted” staff members and that she thought she would never see her children again.

TV anchor Jorge Rendon, who was live in the studio when the attack took place, said it was “extremely violent”.

Ecuador’s president has ordered that criminal gangs be “neutralised” after days of violence culminated in the attack on the television studio.

Police made 13 arrests following the attack, which injured two employees.
