Janet Jackson’s decadeslong musical career landed her a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019 as well as five Grammy awards for dance floor anthems like “Rhythm Nation,” “That’s the Way Love Goes” and “All for You.” It was announced Tuesday that she’ll be stopping at Chase Center on June 12 as part of her extended “Together Again” tour.

Demand for the tour that started in 2023 was so high that it became the “highest selling trek” of the star’s career with 36 sold-out shows, per a Tuesday news release from Live Nation. The new 35-stop leg of the U.S. tour kicks off at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert on June 4, and is slated to feature “Hot in Herre” rapper Nelly as the opening act.

The performances will celebrate 50 years of Jackson’s meteoric rise to fame that kicked off with her family’s variety show “The Jacksons” and paved the way for her critically acclaimed solo records. Fans can expect a wide-ranging retrospective honoring the 25-year anniversary of “The Velvet Rope,” the 30-year anniversary of “Janet” and the 35-year anniversary of “Rhythm Nation.”

Jackson has sold more than 180 million records worldwide and had a record 18 consecutive top-10 entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart; the streak ran from 1989’s “Miss You Much” to 1998’s “I Get Lonely.” She’s known for her experimental style, socially conscious lyrics and intricate choreography. Her visionary concept albums and music videos contributed to the growth of MTV and cemented her as an icon of the ’80s. Jackson’s eleventh and latest album, “Unbreakable,” was released in 2015 and features Missy Elliott and J. Cole.

Her last appearance in the Bay Area was at Shoreline Amphitheatre in June, and she hasn’t been back at Chase Center since a one-off show in 2019 that celebrated the 30th anniversary of “Rhythm Nation” and followed her Las Vegas residency, “Metamorphosis” (The Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms). Other California dates in her upcoming tour are scheduled at North Island Credit Union Ampitheatre in Chula Vista on June 6, the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on June 8, Honda Center in Anaheim on June 9 and Golden 1 Center in Sacramento on June 11.
