Police got into a shootout with a man at a gas station on a busy road near UNC Wilmington Friday morning, officials said.
Officers got a call about a man standing in the middle of the road near the intersection of South College Road and Randall Parkway, just after 10:30 a.m., police said.
The man ran to a nearby BP gas station as police approached and he pulled a gun, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
Police say the man ignored commands to drop the gun and he threated to shoot the officers.
The man then shot at the officers, who returned fire. Neither officers nor the suspect were hit in the exchange and police were able to arrest the man.
The police are investigating the incident.
