Terry Jon Martin was sentenced to time served and one year of probation after he pleaded guilty to stealing the iconic shoes worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz. The ruby slippers were stolen from a museum in 2005 and finally recovered by investigators in 2018.

Martin, who had given up his life of crime, stole the shoes to make “one last score”, his lawyers said. He has since admitted to thinking the red rubies on the shoes were real.
