As the New York Knicks wrap up a fruitful first half, it appears that the team will be without one of its stars for the next stretch of the season.

Knicks forward OG Anunoby will miss at least three weeks after undergoing a procedure to remove a loose bone fragment in his elbow, New York announced Thursday afternoon. The Indiana product had not played since Jan. 27, when he scored 19 points in a 125-109 win over the Miami Heat.

Anunoby, 26, is averaging 15.3 points and 4.2 rebounds per game in 41 games this season—to go with some of the best defense in the game.

After starting the season with the Toronto Raptors, Anunoby was dealt to the Knicks on Dec. 30 for guard RJ Barrett, guard Immanuel Quickley, and a second-round draft pick.

Since acquiring him, New York has been one of the hottest teams in the NBA. The Knicks have soared from 17-15 on the day they acquired Anunoby to 33-18 as of Thursday afternoon—fourth in the Eastern Conference.

A hypothetical three-week absence would land Anunoby’s return on Feb. 29, when New York is scheduled to take on the Golden State Warriors.
