Trump rails against Senate foreign aid bill, says US should ‘give it to ’em as a loan’ instead

Former President Trump railed against a Senate foreign aid bill at a rally in South Carolina on Saturday.

“They want to give like almost $100 billion to a few countries, $100 billion,” Trump said at the rally.

He continued, “I said, ‘Why do we do this? If you do, you give them, not $100 billion, you give it to ‘em as a loan.’”

On Friday, the Senate voted to push a $95.3 billion package with funding for Ukraine and Israel along further to passing. The package comes after the failure of a recent bipartisan deal that combined foreign aid and border security reforms.

Trump played a part in the failure of the deal that combined foreign aid and border security reforms due to his strong opposition to it. He called it a “death wish” for his party quickly after its release.

“Only a fool, or a Radical Left Democrat, would vote for this horrendous Border Bill, which only gives Shutdown Authority after 5000 Encounters a day, when we already have the right to CLOSE THE BORDER NOW, which must be done,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“This Bill is a great gift to the Democrats, and a Death Wish for The Republican Party. It takes the HORRIBLE JOB the Democrats have done on Immigration and the Border, absolves them, and puts it all squarely on the shoulders of Republicans,” Trump continued.

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-La.) also went after the bill.

“I’ve seen enough. This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes,’” Johnson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“If this bill reaches the House, it will be dead on arrival,” he added.
