Voters in Kane County on Tuesday cast ballots for contested primary races for Kane County recorder and also for some Kane County Board seats.

The Democratic primary for county recorder featured Brenda Rodgers and Marisela Villegas, with the winner to face Republican incumbent Sandy Wegman, who was unopposed in the GOP primary, in the November general election.

According to unofficial final results from the Kane County Clerk’s Office, Villegas had 45.9% of the vote to 44% for Rodgers.

There were three contested races for Kane County Board in the Republican primary on Tuesday.

The contest in District 12 saw Michelle Geen facing off against incumbent Bill Roth, with the top vote-getter set to battle Democratic candidate Ricky Rivard in November. Rivard was unopposed in the Democratic primary.

According to unofficial final results, Roth had 49.8% of the vote compared to 44% for Geen.

In District 14, incumbent Mark Davoust squared off against Jonathan Gripe, with the winner to face Brenda Engelhardt, was ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, in the fall election.

Gripe received 62.5% of the vote, with 29.1% for Davoust, according to unofficial final numbers.

In District 16, incumbent Michael J. Kenyon was challenged by Eric Stare, with the winner to face Ted Penesis, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, in the general election in November.

According to unofficial final results, Stare got 57.5% of the votes to 38.8% for Kenyon.

There were two contested Democratic primaries for Kane County Board on Tuesday.

In District 6, incumbent Ron Ford was challenged by Sonia Garcia. There was no candidate running in the Republican primary in the district.

Garcia received 58% of the vote, to 38.6% for Ford, the unofficial final results show.

In District 22, incumbent Vern Tepe faced Randy Hopp. The winner is set to face Republican David Teas, who was unopposed in the GOP primary.

According to unofficial final results, Tepe earned 66.8% of the vote, with Hopp receiving 21%.
