LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Los Angeles County as residents are reporting hail and heavy rain in some areas.
The warning is in effect until 4:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service says the thunderstorm was located near the West Covina area, moving southeast at 20 mph.
Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees is expected, according to NWS, so officials are urging residents to stay aware.
Locations that could be impacted include, Chino, San Dimas, Glendora, Pomona, West Covina, Chino Hills, Montclair, Baldwin Park, Azusa, Monrovia, El Monte, Covina, Hacienda Heights, Arcadia, Claremont, La Puente, and Irwindale.
Sunday forecast in Southern California
The rain will taper off on Sunday and most of the region on Monday should be dry.
Los Angeles and Orange counties on Sunday can expect showers and there could be isolated thunderstorms. A high of 64 is on tap.
The valleys and the Inland Empire can expect similar conditions with a high of 59 on Sunday.
Beaches will see a high of 62 and thunderstorms are possible, especially in the afternoon.
Mountain communities could see a high of 36 on Sunday. Showers are on tap, along with snow at elevations as low as 4,000 feet.
Deserts will see a high of 52 degrees, along with a chance of showers and windy conditions on Sunday.
