We’re tracking our next round of thunderstorms late Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. 

These storms will likely bring some heavy downpours and frequent lightning through Lee County. The remaining storms will start to fall apart as the line continues to push further south.  A couple of storms are still possible for coastal Collier County. The rain will help temperatures dip into the mid-70s overnight.

There’s the potential for isolated t-storms or showers to move in from the Gulf Thursday morning. Storms will mainly be inland in the afternoon, concentrated around Lake Okeechobee through the Everglades. There will be a mix of sun and clouds with highs reaching the lower 90s. 

Tracking the Tropics

Tropical storm Bret formed in the eastern tropical Atlantic Monday. The storm will track into the Caribbean later this week and is expected to weaken and fall apart as it tries to cross the Caribbean Sea over the week. It is not expected to bring impacts to SWFL, but we’ll be watching it closely regardless.

The NHC is also tracking a disturbance moving west in the central tropical Atlantic that has a high chance of becoming a tropical depression over the next couple of days. While it is currently moving west,  It will likely be steered to the north and stay well east of Florida.
