The best chance of rain will be east of I-75 Friday night and Saturday. However, a storm can still bubble up in our coastal communities too. The areas that stay dry overnight will also stay warm— with lows in the upper 70s.

High pressure is developing in the Gulf on Saturday, which will attempt to bring more sunshine to our coast this weekend, especially in the mornings. Storms will once again be likely east of I-75, with a few downpours making it further west.

Highs will reach for the lower 90s.

Tracking the Tropics:

There are currently two named storms in the Atlantic basin being tracked by the National Hurricane Center— neither will impact Southwest Florida.

Tropical Storm Cindy formed late Thursday night. Cindy was last moving west-northwest at 16 MPH and had sustained wind speeds of 50 MPH, which is what it has been stuck at since Friday morning. Additional strengthening is forecast over the next day or so, followed by gradual weakening as it encounters higher shear. There are no tropical storm watches or warnings.

Bret has been gradually weakening throughout the day on Friday. The tropical storm now has wind speeds of 50 MPH, down from 60 in the previous advisory.
It is forecast to further weaken and become post- tropical later this weekend.
