Change is afoot on another Dick Wolf series: Rick Eid is stepping down as showrunner of FBI but will remain an executive producer on the series.

Eid has been the showrunner on FBI since its debut in 2018. The drama is currently in its sixth season and was renewed by CBS through 2027.

Eid will continue as showrunner for Wolf/Universal Television’s Law & Order, which is currently wrapping its 23rd season and was picked up for season 24. Eid is considered an “integral member” of the Universal Television/Wolf team, having also worked on Conviction, Chicago PD, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, Law & Order: SVU, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International.

“Rick has been a core member of the Wolf family for two decades,” said Wolf in a statement. “We thank him for all the work he did on FBI to get the series launched and look forward to continuing our creative partnership on Law & Order and beyond.”

“After six years of running two, or more, shows, and CBS now picking up FBI for three more years, this was the perfect time for me to step back and focus my efforts on running Law & Order and developing new projects,” continued Eid in a statement. “I’m extremely proud of FBI, and couldn’t be happier for the cast, crew and producers. While I will no longer be the day-to-day showrunner, I intend to remain involved with the show going forward.”

FBI is Tuesday’s No. 1 program, which averages 9.04 million. It’s the No. 4 ranked broadcast series and a season-to-date time period winner. On Paramount+, FBI is among the top nine most-watched series on a total minutes basis on the service since the start of the CBS season.
