It’s going to be another hot and humid day today across SWFL, with many of us missing out on any chances for cooling rainfall.
We’re starting our day with well above average temperatures, as high humidity is leaving us with morning lows in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s by the afternoon, with ‘feels like’ numbers peaking between 100°-105° in most spots.
Rain chances will start to pick up as we work through the morning — with isolated downpours by the coast giving way to scattered storms focused on our deep inland areas by the afternoon. While severe storms aren’t expected, a few will be heavy packing torrential rain, frequent lightning, and in a few cases gusty winds.
The rest of the work week will bring similar weather– with continued onshore winds bringing isolated morning downpours and pushing that rain to the east coast through the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 90s with heat index values over 105°F.
By the weekend, easterly winds will work back in, pinning the sea breeze closer to our coast — bringing more of us afternoon downpours and storms. Highs will still hold in the 90s.
Tracking the Tropics:
The remnant area of rain and storms from the dissipated Tropical Storm Cindy has a low chance to redevelop as it moves northward in the western Atlantic, bringing wind and rain to Bermuda and Atlantic Canada. Regardless it is not a threat to Florida or the United States.
