In the previous two games, Eleanor Roosevelt’s Mia Maniece couldn’t step up to the plate during the team’s Maryland Class 4A playoff run. The senior second baseman was nursing an arm injury that barred her from hitting, forcing her to watch helplessly from the dugout during the Raiders’ at-bats.
“I was sitting there on the sidelines cheering them on, and I was watching [my teammates] like, ‘I want to be there; I want to hit,’ ” Maniece said.
