The girls’ lacrosse season ended with last weekend’s Virginia state championships.

Unlike last year, when multiple teams accomplished program firsts, this year’s champions continued extended stretches of dominance. Of the 10 teams in our final rankings, five have won multiple titles in the past three years.

That kind of sustained success is most evident with the No. 1 team. Good Counsel won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference for the third straight year. The Falcons finished 21-0 — the first undefeated season in program history — and were the No. 2 team in USA Lacrosse’s most recent national ranking.
