Paul will have a recurring guest star as the series’ first season main villain, who reportedly “has a sinister connection to the past of one of the (yet to be cast) cadets.”

He is the second actor announced for the series, joining Holly Hunter, who was previously revealed to be playing “the captain and chancellor of the Academy, presiding over both the faculty and a new class of Starfleet cadets as they learn to navigate the galaxy in the 32nd century.”

The series is set to “introduce us to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they will discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is set to begin filming in Toronto this summer.

If you missed it, it was also recently announced that Paul will star in a new Hostel television series based on the horror film franchise, and he’s returning for the third Downton Abbey movie!
