Capital One Is Opening a Lounge at New York’s JFK — What to Know

Capital One is upping the ante at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) with plans to debut its latest airport lounge at Terminal 4.

While there’s no official opening date just yet, the 13,000-square-foot lounge will be located at the retail hall, which is on the ground level past security checkpoints. The space will also offer “the most expansive tarmac views of any Capital One Lounge yet,” the credit card issuer announced on Tuesday.

Travel + Leisure got a sneak peek of the airport lounge renderings, and there are many exciting amenities that fliers can look forward to, including shower suites and power outlets at every seat. The food and drink will be inspired by New York’s famed dining scene with a tapas-style menu, a full-service coffee bar with fresh bagels, and even an in-lounge bodega. There will also be an all-day charcuterie bar of sorts offering meats, cheeses, wine, and beer pairings from the greater Hudson Valley and New York area.

In addition, this new space at JFK will offer a signature (and one of the best) amenity from the Capital One lounge network: a grab-and-go fridge. Travelers can avoid waiting in long lines — and paying a hefty markup for airport concessions — by enjoying tasty meals and an assortment of drinks to take on the go.

When it opens, the new JFK location will mark Capital One’s fifth airport lounge in its network, following Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Washington-Dulles, and, soon, Las Vegas. Over at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, the issuer is also opening a “Capital One Landing” at Terminal B, which will be more of a sit-down dining experience rather than a full-fledged lounge, accessible exclusively for cardholders.

Terminal 4 at JFK offers a plethora of airport lounges to passengers. Delta Air Lines maintains a hub at JFK’s Terminal 4, where it already has two Sky Club lounges and plans to open a Delta One premium lounge in the coming weeks. Capital One’s main competitors, American Express and Chase, have airport lounges for their own cardholders.

Capital One’s airport lounges can be accessed by holding a Capital One Venture X or Venture X Business Card, both of which have a $395 annual fee. Cardholders flying on any airline can enjoy unlimited access and bring two guests free of charge.
