When you’re 5 feet tall like me, you often have a whole set of short person problems. While I’ve fully embraced my height (or lack thereof), I’ve always struggled with finding bottoms that fit and look flattering. I’ve never been a huge fan of wearing shorts in the summer, often opting for dresses, but when I need something casual and cool, I rely on leggings. With the temperatures rising, I needed a pair that’s lightweight, breathable, and not full-length — and recently found them in an Alo Yoga pair.

I had the chance to test out Alo’s 7/8 High-Waist Airlift Legging, which is a petite-friendly version of its High-Waist Airlift Legging. Now that my usual cozy sweatpants are no longer a viable option for summer’s heat, I’ve been relying on leggings to keep me comfortable whether I’m lounging, going on long walks, or spending the day running around from activity to activity. My biggest gripe with leggings is that they usually roll down or ride up as I move around, but after wearing this pair for more than six straight hours while walking, jogging, and standing, they barely budged an inch. I also sat down in them, and the waistband still stayed put.

From the minute I slipped on the Airlift Leggings, I noticed their compression design, but they never restricted my movement or dug into me. Instead, they just shaped and smoothed from the waist down and felt supportive while still being flexible enough to move with me. The extra-wide waistband was comfortable around my midsection, and their double layering made them feel more durable. 

From my waist to my ankles, the subtly shiny Airlift fabric was light and breathable yet not see-through, so I never overheated, even while being outdoors for hours. I also appreciated this new 7/8 style that hits just above the ankle without being a cropped length that usually makes me appear even short, making this my go-to summer style.
