The Clean Energy Alliance recently announced the launch of its Solar Plus program, which provides rooftop solar and battery storage installation to homeowners without any upfront costs.
The program, which is part of a collaboration with Tesla and Participate.Energy, enables participating homes to have their own microgrids that can generate energy for themselves and the community, according to a news release.
The news release added that the program “offers all customers energy independence and reliable power at predictable energy rates resulting in significant savings over the term of the program.”
“Our Solar Plus program brings together cutting-edge technology, innovation and a shared vision for a greener, more sustainable future,” Del Mar City Councilmember Dave Druker, chair of the CEA board of directors, said in a statement. “It’s a revolutionary step towards democratizing clean energy access, empowering communities, and fostering a more sustainable future for all.”
The program also gives participants the option to add electric vehicle chargers.
Earlier this spring, Clean Energy Alliance CEO Greg Wade gave an update on the program, including the first few applicants. Participate.Energy presented the program to CEA officials through the CEA’s “unsolicited proposals process.”
“There is the ability to save money on your electricity bill and also to have access to that battery to provide increased efficiency as well as cost savings for the customer,” Wade said during an April CEA board meeting. “The battery and solar system would be provided by Tesla in this program. We would enter into a power-purchase agreement with Participate.Energy so that CEA would be procuring that renewable energy generated by each of these facilities and then providing that back to the customer at a fixed-rate.”
