A woman was stabbed repeatedly and without warning Saturday morning while standing by a Mira Mesa ATM, according to San Diego police.

While wounded in the “neck, left shoulder, and chin,” the 30-year-old was expected to survive. Officer David O’Brien said her attacker was still at large.

The assault happened a little before 10 a.m.

The woman was standing outside a vehicle by a drive-through ATM on Mira Mesa Boulevard, across the road from Mira Mesa High School, according to the watch commander’s log.

A man approached. Police said he was White, brown-haired, of “medium build” and appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s. He wore a gray, long-sleeved shirt and “multicolored floral stretch pants.”

The man didn’t demand money, according to the statement. He simply approached the ATM and slashed the woman with a sharp object. Then he pushed her to the ground and kept stabbing.

The woman kicked and screamed. Others in the parking lot rushed over. The man fled.

“The suspect made no statements or demands prior to or during the attack,” police said.

An ambulance took the woman to a nearby hospital. Officials asked anyone with information about the incident to call 888-580-8477.
