Starbucks and Marriott Bonvoy are teaming up to make earning and redeeming points easier on both platforms.
The partnership, which went into effect on Tuesday, allows Marriott Bonvoy and Starbucks Rewards members in the United States to link their accounts and earn more perks, the companies shared with Travel + Leisure. To sign up, customers must officially link their accounts online.
“I love my regular morning cup of Starbucks coffee, and find I enjoy it even more when traveling. So, Marriott Bonvoy’s collaboration with Starbucks makes perfect sense,” David Flueck, the global head of loyalty, cards and enterprise partnerships at Marriott International, said in a statement shared with T+L. “We will truly satisfy our members’ passions for coffee and travel with the opportunity to earn more points and Stars while traveling and at home, and later this year by bringing those passions together when we introduce exclusive coffee- and travel-themed experiences on Marriott Bonvoy Moments.”
Going forward, travelers who link their accounts will be able to earn double Stars at participating Starbucks on days they stay at a participating Marriott Bonvoy hotel. Travelers will also be able to earn 100 Marriott Bonvoy points when they make three qualifying transactions at participating Starbucks during any designated Marriott Bonvoy Week. The first Marriott Bonvoy Week runs from July 8 to July 14.
To celebrate the new partnership, the companies are giving away several major prizes in a sweepstakes through July 7, including a trip to visit Starbucks Reserve Roasteries in Seattle, Milan, and Tokyo complete with hotel and roundtrip flights. Customers can enter to win online.
This isn’t the first company Marriott has teamed up with. Earlier this year, the hotel group offered bonus points to travelers who linked their loyalty accounts with Uber.
Starbucks similarly has a partnership with Delta Air Lines, allowing travelers to earn miles with coffee purchases.
