The following student-athletes have been selected to The Washington Post’s 2024 All-Met team for boys’ outdoor track and field:
Quincy Wilson, So., Bullis
Wilson is one of the most gifted track athletes in the country. He will contend for the Olympics this summer, the latest signifier of his meteoric rise. Wilson ran the 400 meters in 45.13 seconds at the New Balance Nationals and the 800 in 1 minute 50.44 seconds at the Beach Run Invitational. The partnership between Bullis’s vaunted program and Wilson’s special talent has worked wonders, and the next two years will be a chance for him to advance his legacy even further.
Colin Abrams, Jr., Bullis
After transferring from Magruder, Abrams helped fortify the Bulldogs’ reputation in distance events.
Drew Dillard, Sr., Archbishop Carroll
One of three first-team members from Carroll, the 2022-23 indoor track Athlete of the Year won Washington Catholic Athletic Conference titles in the 110-meter hurdles and high jump.
Kemond Felder, Sr., Dunbar
A dual-sport athlete in track and football, Felder won the 110-meter hurdles at the D.C. State Athletic Association championships in 13.89.
Tsedeke Jakovics, Jr., Old Mill Senior
Jakovics entrenched himself as one of the area’s top distance runners, winning the 800 and helping to win the 4×800 relay at the Maryland Class 4A championships.
Jake Odey-Jordan, So., Archbishop Carroll
Odey-Jordan emerged as one of the top sprinters in the area as he ran the 200 in under 21 seconds and the 100 in 10.38.
James Long, Sr., Hayfield
The senior ran a personal-best 47.47 to win the 400 at the Virginia Class 6 championship.
Marlin Newsome, Sr., Centennial
An elite sprinter, Newsome blazed to a 10.45-second finish in a victorious 100 meters at the Maryland Class 3A championships. He also cruised to the top time (21.50) in the 200.
Connor Salmin, So., Woodgrove
A decorated football prospect at wide receiver, Salmin won the Virginia Class 4 100-meter final in 10.44.
Nicholas Spikes, Sr., Paint Branch
The Florida commit looks prepared to compete in the SEC after running a personal best of 20.91 in the 200.
Roman Spikes, Sr., Paint Branch
He joined his brother in putting forth a strong senior season, running a personal best of 10.46 in the 100 at the TU Classic HS Invitational.
Dezmone Starks, Sr., Archbishop Carroll
Starks was a standout on a loaded Carroll roster; he won the 200 meters at the WCAC championships.
Donovan Tyler, Sr., St. Johns
Tyler won the DCSAA championship in the shot put with a distance of 51 feet 8 inches.
Anthony Waterman, Sr., DeMatha
A Kentucky commit, the runner repeats as a first-team choice after a strong senior season.
Funmi Daramola, Paint Branch
Daramola and her staff led the Panthers to a strong spring as Paint Branch finished with the top 4×200 relay time in the state and finished second in the team standings at the Trojan Invitational and the Maryland Class 4A championships.
