Friday’s a big day for Stones fans in Vancouver, as the iconic English rock and roll band gears up to play the only Canadian stop of its latest tour.

The Rolling Stones are set to play BC Place as part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s tour of the new Hackney Diamonds album.

Fans are being reminded to prepare ahead of the show, with many rules to take note of.

BC Place says it has “implemented a restricted bag policy,” which is part of what it calls its “integrated security plan.”

Many items are also prohibited at the concert, including studded jewelry, long wallet chains, and spurs. Fans are also asked to leave signs and posters, professional cameras, and umbrellas at home.

“Bottles of any kind are prohibited on the Floor Level,” BC Place adds. “Soft-sided bottles or containers up to 1 litre capacity are permitted onto Levels 2, 3, and 4 only.”

Friday’s show also comes as temperatures rise amid a heatwave in Metro Vancouver. With BC Place an open-air stadium, officials say concert-goers should “dress accordingly” for seasonal outdoor temperatures.

Fans rolling into Vancouver to catch rock legends

Many out-of-town fans have flown into Vancouver to see the legends take the stage, hoping to get some Satisfaction as the band promotes its first album of original material in 18 years on the road.

Campbell River Mayor Kermit Dahl is among those who travelled to catch the show.

“I had decided that my wife and I would go to the next Stones concert regardless of where it was. But a 20-minute flight from Campbell River to YVR? We’re going to spend two days here. It’s good to check this off the bucket list,” he told CityNews Friday morning.

“I’ve been waiting a long time for this day. Since I was a kid.”

Dahl’s hoping to hear Satisfaction from the award-winning group, fronted by 80-year-old Mick Jagger.

Doors at BC Place open at 6 p.m.
