The city of Poway will begin the first phase of its annual street maintenance work in July and August.
This year’s project will address deep patch asphalt repairs on Scripps Poway Parkway, Kirkham Road, Kirkham Way, Community Road, Tech Center Drive and Stowe Drive, and upgrade pedestrian access ramps.
Work will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Night work is tentatively scheduled for July 24 and July 25 at the Scripps Poway Parkway intersections and along Tech Center Drive to limit the interruption to the commercial facilities that rely on access to operate.
Watch for upcoming construction signs for exact times of work.
Street work will require lane closures, which will change daily as the contractor completes repairs on each section of the road. Police fire and emergency medical vehicles will have access at all times during construction.
Message signs will be placed to notify motorists of current road work information. For the most current information, visit the city’s website at Poway.org/roads.
Workers apply the right treatment at the right time to extend the life of the pavement, city officials say. The city rotates street repairs, with one of eight street maintenance zones worked on each year. This year’s work occurs in zone 7.
The second phase of the annual street maintenance project will start in mid-August and continue through the end of September. The work is set to place slurry seal treatments on all the streets within the same zone.
