I always believed that there was a certain confidence (that I did not possess) required to wear a mini skirt, but as it turns out, all it took to cure this mindset was finding an option with a built-in pair of shorts. This simple mini skirt is made from a breathable knit material that doesn’t show sweat stains — even when I wore it on a 95-degree day sightseeing around Brooklyn, New York. The high-rise fit and elastic waistband is incredibly comfortable without digging into my skin, while the mid-thigh hem was flattering without feeling too short. However, the undeniable highlight of this piece for me is the built-in, moisture-wicking shorts that kept me feeling covered and comfortable from the subway to the street.

Since this skirt is designed for athletic wear, it’s naturally more forgiving and stretchier than other mini skirts, but I found that I’ve been able to both dress it up with kitten heels and down with sneakers, essentially making it the most versatile item in my closet. I’m planning on traveling nearly every weekend in August, and there’s no doubt in my mind that this will be the first thing I add to my packing cubes.
