Pedestrian struck, killed on freeway in Encinitas

A pedestrian was struck and killed in traffic lanes on Interstate 5 in Encinitas on Monday, according to California Highway Patrol online traffic incident logs.

Around 2:35 p.m., callers reported that a man had run onto the freeway and was struck by a white Tesla just north of Birmingham Drive, the logs indicate.

The man died before he could be taken to a hospital, according to the logs.

No further details were immediately available.
