Four men killed after they were ejected from the same car in a suspected DUI crash in Kearny Mesa last week have been identified, the county Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.
Around 1:30 a.m. Friday, a Toyota pickup rear-ended a Toyota Prius on southbound state Route 163 near Interstate 805, officials said. The Prius, with the four men inside, went out of control and crashed, ejecting all the men. The Medical Examiner’s Office identified them as Faruk Cetin, 27; Mahsun Dursun, 23; Abdurrezak Hizmali, 27; and Baris Savas, 25.
Cetin and Dursun died at the scene. Hizmali and Savas died at a hospital.
The crash involved a third vehicle that appeared badly damaged, footage from CBS8 showed.
A 32-year-old man driving the pickup and a 25-year-old man driving the third vehicle were both arrested on suspicion of DUI, CHP officials said.
