LOS ANGELES – The father of Monterey Park teen Alison Chao is hosting a press conference Tuesday after the 15-year-old was found safe a week after she disappeared while on a bike ride to a relative’s house in the San Gabriel Valley.
Chao was located earlier this morning and was located with the assistance of the Glendale Police Department, Monterey Park police said.

“Monterey Park Police Department extends its appreciation to community members and the many local, state and federal partners for their assistance during the investigation,” the department said.
Chao was last seen in the evening hours of July 16 riding her bicycle in the 4400 block of Collis Avenue in the El Sereno area, according to police.
Officials said there was no threat to public safety.
The circumstances surrounding Chao’s disappearance are unclear at this time, but her father has retained a lawyer and is being represented by Romero and Associates.
The press conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in downtown Los Angeles.
