Cal State San Marcos is staying in-house, naming Morod Shah, one of its own, as the university’s second athletic director of the NCAA Division II era.
He replaces Jennifer Milo, who moved across campus as a special assistant to the vice president of student affairs after 12 years as athletic director.
Shah, who has been in the athletic department for more than a decade and has been the interim AD since April, graduated from CSUSM in 2008 with a degree in communications.
Before joining the athletic department in 2013, Shah worked for the San Diego Chargers as a public relations assistant, and for Glaceau as an area sales and marketing manager.
He graduated from San Marcos High School. A basketball player, he was selected to play on the Afghanistan National Basketball Team, playing in tournaments around the world.
“This university means so much to my family and me both professionally and personally, so to have this opportunity is a dream come true,” Shah said in a statement.
Prior to being named the interim AD, Shah served as associate director of athletics for facilities and operations, and as external operations coordinator.
CSUSM fields teams in 13 sports.
Shah and his wife Adrienne live in San Marcos with their two children.
