Post Malone’s big year in the country music scene just got bigger.
The crossover star was announced Monday afternoon as the front man of Outriders’ Wild Horses Festival at Petco Park on Dec. 30. Organizers say the event will showcase “the classic sounds of the Modern West on the shores of the Pacific.”
It’s been a busy and varied year for Malone, who fronted day two of Los Angeles’s premiere hip hop festival, Rolling Loud, and performed a collection of country covers at the Stagecoach Festival in Indio. He later topped the charts with “I Had Some Help,” a collaboration between him and Morgan Wallen.
The 29-year-old cut his teeth in rap and pop before pivoting to the folk-inspired sound of 2023’s “Austin” and his twangier, features-filled singles from his forthcoming album “F-1 Trillion.”
Except for a scheduled festival appearance in San Francisco, California was notably absent from Malone’s 21-date F-1 Trillion tour that he announced in June.
This year marks the fourth annual Wild Horses festival and the eighth stadium show at Petco park in 2024 — a new record for the ballpark. Last year’s event was fronted by Zach Bryan, fresh off the success of his self-titled 2023 record. Previous performers include gospel-inspired rocker Paul Cauthen, as well as country acts Midland and Cody Jinks.
Malone will be joined by a trio of opening acts — Cauthen, singer-songwriter Vincent Neil Emerson and bluegrass up-and-comer Zach Top.
Presale tickets for the Dec. 30 festival begin on Aug. 9 at 10 a.m., followed by general sales at 1 p.m. the same day. Representatives declined to provide ticket prices. To register fore presales, visit outriderspresent.com/event/wild-horses.
