Del Mar Highlands Town Center’s newly refreshed pop jet fountain made a splash when it reopened for play last month. The fountain is not the only new thing being added to the center this year. Here’s a look at a few other coming attractions:
- Now under construction in the large former Tilly’s space is Culinary Dropout. Culinary Dropout is part of the Fox Restaurant Concepts brand—they are the group behind Flower Hill Promenade’s Flower Child, and The Henry and the new Blanco in Coronado. At Culinary Dropout’s 13 locations across the country (the majority in Arizona) there is an emphasis on live music along with a menu that features items such as soft pretzels with provolone fondue, slow braised 36-hour pork ribs, spicy vegan curry and wagyu pigs in a blanket.
- Birkenstock Del Mar just opened last month on the lower level. Family-owned and operated since 1976 in San Diego, the store sells not only Birkenstock sandals but unique comfort footwear from all over the world, including Hoka, Taos, Teva, Ugg and On Running.
- New fitness studio Pvolve will open soon on the top level, next door to Rumble Boxing in the former Row House space. The functional movement studio will be the third in San Diego, including one in Carlsbad. Members sculpt, strengthen and tone with a workout that mixes low-impact exercises and Pvolve’s proprietary equipment like their ball and resistance bands.
- SunLife Organics will take over the former Breakers coffee and wine bar which closed last spring on the top level, close to Sky Deck. SunLife will serve up smoothies, juices, açaí bowls, wellness shots and food such as toasts and paninis. The SuLife brand was born in Malibu in 2011 before expanding to locations nationwide. The cafe will also sell its products like matcha, protein powder and granola bars.
