Tuesday’s results
Equestrian: Rancho Santa Fe resident Karl Cook finished 16th in the individual jumping final with horse Caracole de la Roque Cook.
Skateboarding: Encinitas resident Bryce Wettstein finished sixth in the women’s park final. Oceanside resident Ruby Lilley did not advance out of the prelims.
Soccer: The U.S. women, with Naomi Girma and Jaedyn Shaw of the San Diego Wave, beat Germany 1-0 in extra time in the semifinals and now face Brazil, which upset reigning World Cup champion Spain, in Saturday’s final.
Sport climbing: Brooke Raboutou (USD) was third in the semifinals for boulder and lead, advancing to the eight-woman final Saturday.
Track cycling: Jennifer Valente (Cathedral Catholic High School) and the U.S. women were second in qualifying in team pursuit behind New Zealand and advance to the medal round.
Wednesday’s action
Basketball: Kelsey Plum (La Jolla Country Day) and the U.S. women play Nigeria in the quarterfinals in Paris at 12:30 p.m. PDT.
Skateboarding: The men’s park prelims and finals are Wednesday, with multiple local athletes. Gavin Bottger (Vista resident), Tate Carew (Point Loma High School) and Tom Schaar (San Dieguito Academy) comprise the U.S. team. Defending gold medalist Keegan Palmer (Encinitas resident) skates for Australia, Thomas Augusto (San Marcos resident) for Portugal, Andy Macdonald (Encinitas resident) for Great Britain, and Alex Sorgente (Carlsbad resident) for Italy.
Track cycling: Valente and the U.S. women go for the team pursuit gold at the velodrome in Saint-Quentin-en-Yveline.
Volleyball: Garrett Muagututia (Francis Parker) and the U.S. men face No. 1-ranked Poland in the semifinals at 11 a.m. PDT.
Water polo: Alex Bowen (Santana High School) and the U.S. men play Australia in the quarterfinals at 10 a.m. PDT.
