Friday’s results
Basketball: Kelsey Plum (La Jolla Country Day) had two points in 11 minutes for the U.S. women in an 85-64 win against Australia to put them in Sunday’s final against France.
Breaking: Chula Vista’s Logan “Logistx” Edra won one battle, tied one and lost one in the round-robin portion of the B-girl competition and did not advance to the quarterfinals.
Track and field: San Diego resident Chari Hawkins finished 21st in the heptathlon with 5,255 points despite some good individual performances because she no-heighted the high jump in Day 1.
Track cycling: Jennifer Valente (Cathedral Catholic High School) and Lily Williams finished fourth in the Madison race behind Italy, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
Volleyball: Garrett Muagututia (Francis Parker) and the U.S. men’s indoor team beat Italy 3-0 (25-23, 30-28, 26-24) to claim the bronze medal.
Water polo: Alex Bowen (Santana High School) scored a goal but the U.S. men lost 10-6 against Serbia in the semis and now face Hungary on Sunday for the bronze medal.
Saturday’s action
Canoe: San Diego resident Nevin Harrison tries to repeat as gold medalist in the C-1 200 meters flatwater event.
Soccer: The U.S. women with San Diego Waves’ Naomi Girma and Jaedyn Shaw play Brazil in the final at Parc des Princes at 8 a.m. PDT.
Sport climbing: Brooke Raboutou (USD), third after the semifinals, competes in the boulder and lead final.
