The death of a 75-year-old man found with head injuries at a residence in Boulevard on Saturday is being investigated as a homicide, a county Sheriff’s Department official said Sunday.
The Pine Valley Sheriff’s Station received a call around 3:30 p.m. Saturday from Cal Fire officials to report “an unresponsive male” inside his residence on Tierra del Sol Road near Hi Pass Road in the East County community, sheriff’s homicide Lt. Michael Krugh said in a news release.
“Deputies entered the residence and observed what appeared to be trauma to the victim’s head and requested assistance from the sheriff’s homicide unit,” Krugh said.
The response began with a 911 call for medical aid, a Cal Fire spokesman said, and the victim was declared dead before deputies arrived. Boulevard is a town of fewer than 400 residents.
The motivation and the circumstances of the man’s death remained unclear Sunday afternoon, Krugh said. The victim’s identity was not released.
Homicide investigators asked that anyone with information about the case (858) 285-6330 or after hours at (858) 565-5200. Anonymous calls can be made to Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
