A jewelry store owner fired a gun during a “smash-and-grab” robbery Tuesday in Rancho Bernardo, police said.
The incident was reported around 5 p.m. on Bernardo Center Drive east of Interstate 15, San Diego Officer John Buttle said.
The robber reportedly smashed some glass and took off with a handful of items, Buttle said. The owner then fired a round. No injuries were immediately reported, police said.
The value of the stolen items was not immediately known, Buttle said.
