Catharine Kaufman, this newspaper’s “Kitchen Shrink” columnist, unveiled her eponymous croissant last week at Parfait Paris in the Sky Deck at Del Mar Highlands Town Center. This delight—a true gustatory extravaganza—filled with hazelnut praline and coffee cream, wrapped around flaky, buttery croissant dough dotted with ground Colombian coffee specks and topped with toasted Swiss meringue—also supported literacy as a portion of sales were donated to the San Diego Council on Literacy.
