El Departamento de Policía de San Diego dijo que está investigando una serie de amenazas realizadas contra escuelas primarias, secundarias y preparatorias en toda la ciudad durante los últimos dos días.
Hasta el miércoles, no había ninguna amenaza confirmada, dijo el capitán Juan Sánchez en un comunicado de prensa.
Muchas de las amenazas se han repetido y publicado varias veces, y se originaron en varias fuentes, dijo Sánchez. Muchas también han sido vagas y no contenían información específica.
“Se notificó a numerosas escuelas locales, y esas escuelas tomaron precauciones adicionales e iniciaron sus protocolos de amenaza”, dijo Sánchez. “El Departamento de Policía de San Diego agregó oficiales de patrulla adicionales a las escuelas donde se recibieron amenazas para garantizar la seguridad pública”.
La policía no especificó las escuelas involucradas ni describió más las amenazas.
Los funcionarios dicen que ha habido un aumento en las amenazas de tiroteos en las escuelas en todo el país, que han incluido “listas negras de escuelas” publicadas en línea. Las publicaciones incluyen nombres de campus y fechas que cambian constantemente.
Los investigadores estatales y federales están investigando las amenazas más recientes, y la policía de San Diego ha estado compartiendo información con sus socios policiales, dijo Sánchez.
“Cualquier amenaza siempre se toma en serio y se investiga a fondo”, dijo el capitán.
