Norwegian DJ and musician Alan Walker and Bollywood composer Pritam are set to release their first collaboration, “Children of the Sun,” via Warner Music India. The track, which also features vocals from Vishal Mishra, blends Eastern and Western musical influences.
Walker, known for his global hit “Faded” and subsequent chart-toppers, has become one of electronic music’s most recognizable producers. He has won the Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards, the Cannes Lions, and best Norwegian act at the MTV European Music Awards.
Pritam, a powerhouse in the Bollywood music industry, has composed for more than 100 films including recent hits “Dunki,” “Animal” and “Brahmastra.”
The collaboration stems from a 2019 meeting during Walker’s Mumbai tour stop, which led to a friendship between the artists. Walker, inspired by his travels to India, created a melody that resonated with Pritam, eventually resulting in the new single.
The song combines 80s synthwave elements with Walker’s electronic style and Pritam’s composition. Its lyrics, centered around the sun’s symbolism, aim to convey themes of human connection. The track includes a children’s choir and is described as a tribute to the next generation.
Walker said: “I first met Pritam in 2019, and ever since, we’ve kept in touch and worked on releasing a track together. I’m really pleased with how it turned out – both the message and how it brings together different sounds and languages.”
Pritam added: “Music has the power to heal, inspire, and unite. I hope that ‘Children Of The Sun’ will touch the hearts of listeners around the world and bring a message of hope and unity.”
Coinciding with the single’s release on Sept. 26, Walker will embark on a 10-city Walkerworld Tour by Sunburn across India. The tour starts in Kolkata on Sept. 27 and concludes in Hyderabad on Oct. 20, with an expected attendance of over 100,000 fans. This tour marks one of Walker’s most extensive in India.
